Rescue from the can

Rescue from the can

In an emergency, every minute counts after the rescue service arrives. If the patient is unresponsive and there is no one on the scene to provide information, valuable time is wasted providing vital information to first responders. To ensure that these are quickly to hand in an emergency, a rescue box has been available for some time now, in which a sheet of paper with the most important personal information is deposited. In the event of an emergency, this data is quickly available to the emergency services.

The salvage box is twelve centimeters in size and strikingly designed with a red lid and red logo. The data sheet contains the most important personal data: name, address, a current photo and the address of the general practitioner. Current illnesses, allergies and incompatibilities should also be described. Also the location of medicines and information on patients' powers of attorney or health care proxies. It is also important to have information about who needs to be cared for in case of sudden absence, and contact data of close people who should be notified in case of emergency.
The SOS can is to be kept in a clearly visible place in the inside of the cupboard. Not because it has to be refrigerated, but because strangers can easily find the refrigerator in a house instead of searching for a long time in drawers or cupboards. A sticker on the inside of the front door of a house or apartment and on the door of a refrigerator immediately lets emergency services know that an SOS can is available. In an emergency, this saves the rescuers time and possibly saves lives.
The kreuzbergallianz has purchased a contingent of these cans for the population. They are now available free of charge from the respective city halls.
Michaela schleiffer, alliance manager, sees the rescue can as an important burger service. "This service is especially useful and helpful for the elderly and single people." This ensures that help is provided quickly and effectively. However, schleiffer asked the users not to affix the stickers to the entrance door from the outside, but to place them in a clearly visible position inside the building. Because potential perpetrators could draw conclusions that an old or sick person lives there.
"We at the kreuzbergallianz want to contribute to spreading the word about the rescue box. The emergency services benefit from this, as do first responders and, of course, the victims who need help in an emergency." If assistance is desired in filling out the data sheet, the employees of the burgerburos in the respective municipal administrations will be happy to assist you.
